Profile

Fashion Business and Promotion graduate, with a strong desire to work in fashion buying. Throughout education, a strong work ethic has been demonstrated by earning the titles of ‘Business Student Of The Year’ and ‘Student Pushing The Boundaries’. Capable of handling high levels of responsibility and making autonomous business decisions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Eager to gain, learn and develop new and existing skills.

Birmingham City University 2018 - 2021

KEY MODULE

Fashion Buying and Merchandising

  • Created a buying and merchandising range development book for fashion brand, George clothing, using Adobe InDesign.

  • Analysed George’s current brand identity, conducted a comparative shop report, SWOT of the brand and applied trend research.

  • Developed a product range, using Adobe Illustrator to develop CADs, which were commercially viable, and appropriate to the retailer and their consumer.

  • Developed a critical path, in Excel, using short and long lead times.

  • Articulated findings from the development book in order to support and justify the range through a professionally presented pitch.

  • Finalist chosen to present the pitch to George’s senior directors and awarded the prize of two weeks work experience.

KEY MODULE

Visual Merchandising

  • Worked in a team with 6 fellow students to create a detailed creative direction report, and presented an innovative visual merchandising strategy.

  • Live brief in collaboration with Selfridges, Birmingham.

  • Considered core values that consumers look to fulfil and defined the value shifts in consumer attitudes and behaviour. Identified and outlined the micro trends arising and how they will manifest in a retail strategy.

  • Selected to present to the Selfridges creative and management teams in Birmingham.

MAJOR PROJECT

Did The Pandemic Accelerate The Need For Change In The Luxury Industry?

  • Undertook a comprehensive and independent study which explored how the coronavirus pandemic is accelerating the need for the luxury fashion industry to re-evaluate its fashion week calendar and develop new models to address sustainability and over-consumption.

  • Used a variety of appropriate primary and secondary research methods to investigate the subject’s parameters and evaluate contextual issues from a social, cultural, and historical perspective.

  • The study was underpinned with relevant debates, theories and practice.

EQUALITY, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION REPRESENTATIVE, BCU

  • Contribute to the development of a diverse and inclusive community within the Arts, Design, and Media faculty at Birmingham City University.

  • Meet with fellow mentors on a regular basis to discuss student concerns around inclusivity, fairness and equality.

  • Assist with the running and organisation of events and activities for fellow students.

CHIEF EDITOR AND FOUNDER, OHANA

  • Oversee the planning and conception of both written and visual contents to be featured on online media outlets. 

  • Lead meetings and discussions to debate and determine what news and stories to publish.

  • Manage two teams; writers and designers.

  • Review written content for spelling and grammar errors and providing suggestions for edits as appropriate.

  • Approve the layout, design, style, and tone of the publication.

  • Effectively utilise digital platforms to recruit, communicate and collaborate with the Ohana team.

FASHION AMBASSADOR TELEMARKETER, BCU

  • Make outgoing enquiry calls to possible university applicants considering starting the ‘Fashion Business and Promotion’ course, through UCAS, in 2020/2021.

  • Offer advice and understanding of the course, including the content modules, lecturers and weekly seminar, lecture and tutorial timetables.

  • Skill sets within this job include: time management, active listening, communication, good pace, pitch and tone and the ability to be natural and conversational.

June 2018 - November 2018

SALES CONSULTANT, THRILLPIC

  • Photography sales consultant travelling to a variety of car and motorbike race days around the UK.

  • Encompassed a wide range of customers and members of the company, which meant I learnt to adapt, how I worked and communicated often.

  • Held a strong level of communication and teamwork across my respected colleagues.

  • Skill sets within this job included: active listening, communication, service and product knowledge, sales skills including persuasiveness, interpersonal skills, and customer service skills.
